How the scoreboard works

Tap a position to score it for that competitor. Takedowns, sweeps and knee on belly are 2 points, a guard pass is 3, and mount or back control is 4. Advantages and penalties are counted separately, and Undo takes back the last call if you tap the wrong side.

When the clock reaches zero, the winner is decided in IBJJF order: most points, then most advantages, then fewest penalties. If everything is level, the board calls it a referee decision. The submission button ends the match at any point.

The scoring follows IBJJF-style rules and suits gym rounds, in-house tournaments and practice. Federations differ — ADCC, submission-only and other rulesets score matches their own way — so check your event's rules before you compete. Questions

BJJ scoreboard FAQ

How many points is a sweep in BJJ?

Under IBJJF-style rules a sweep is 2 points, the same as a takedown or knee on belly. A guard pass is 3, and mount or back control is 4.

Who wins a BJJ match when the points are tied?

Under IBJJF rules, advantages break a points tie, then fewer penalties. If those are level too, the referee decides. The scoreboard applies that order when time runs out.

Does this scoreboard follow IBJJF rules exactly?

It uses IBJJF-style point values and tie-breaks, but it doesn't enforce every rule. For example, repeated IBJJF penalties can hand the opponent an advantage or points — the referee makes that call, so add it with the buttons. Other federations score differently.

How long is a BJJ match?

It depends on the federation, age and belt. IBJJF adult matches commonly run from 5 minutes at white belt up to 10 minutes at black belt. Pick any length from 2 to 10 minutes here; the default is 5:00.
